My name is Ann Bridges and I am a registered nurse, with 14 years experience. After positive experiences using hypnosis for the birth of both my children, I am now qualified and committed to assisting the next generation to be birthed with ease. Calmly and gently, as nature intended.
Having witnessed births in the obstetrics component of my nurse training, I made a mental note to myself that I wanted to have as natural a birth as possible, and was motivated through a healthy fear of needles to avoid an epidural (I don’t mind giving injections, not so keen being on the receiving end!). Yet I had witnessed women in great fear. Pain control was my area of interest for my final exams, and the connection has long been established that fear and anxiety increase pain, so after seeing a documentary of a women having a caesarean section under hypnosis, I thought that using it for natural birth would be a walk in the park. So when I became pregnant, hypnosis was the obvious choice for me.
After my positive experiences using hypnosis, I became fascinated by the power of the subconscious mind, and trained to become a clinical hypnotherapist, and as I was passionate about birth, I became a certified HypnoBirthing practitioner. I have also trained as a doula. ( a birthing attendant) after being inspired by the doula I had at my first child’s birth.
My other qualification as a NLP Practitioner is a great additional tool for eliminating fears and past traumas.
Birth is a wonderful experience which has been tarnished by fear and misunderstanding. Often well intentioned. I have worked as a theatre nurse, assisting in caesarian sections.
I see my role as bringing birth back into the community as a positive, joyful experience, the way nature intended. With a light touch and sense of humour!
We all want the best for our babies, and this is the gift of a gentle beginning, with bonding developing before the baby emerges into the world. It is a great opportunity also, for the parents to bond with each other and their baby.
